This report Rapid Review of Data Education within Mathematics 5-16 by Vinay Kathotia and Cathy Smith (Open University) was commissioned by the Joint Mathematical Council of the United Kingdom (JMC) and the Royal Society (RS).  The work reviews various key reports and documentation to consolidate the RS’s and JMC’s thinking on Mathematical and Data Education. The accompanying spreadsheet, Curriculum Progression with Themes, presents a 2-dimensional version of the Curriculum Guidance on pages 16-39 of the report.  Organised over the seven data education competencies identified in Smith et al. (2023) and five curriculum stages covering ages 5 to 16 ( Years 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-9, 10-11) the statements have been further organised into themes that can be read horizontally to show progression.
