Adults Learning Mathematics is an international forum which aims to promote the learning of mathematics by adults through bringing together those engaged in and interested in research and developments in this field (here understood to include numeracy). The group comprises both researchers and adult education practitioners; it organises an annual conference, and produces a newsletter and a regular international web-based journal.
The Association of Mathematics Education Teachers is the voice of mathematics teacher educators in the UK with membership predominantly from the UK Mathematics Initial Teacher Education (ITE) community. AMET represents our members in JMC and other bodies, as well as hosting two annual conferences. We keep members up-to-date on mathematics education developments and support new ITE mathematics tutors for both Primary and Secondary phases.
ATM is the professional home for teachers who want to explore strategies that will enable all learners to enjoy and discover mathematics. ATM produces stimulating publications, an inspiring journal, and provides opportunities for teachers to work together at its annual conference, through working groups and local branches. BSRLM is for people interested in research in mathematics education and provides a supportive environment for both new and experienced researchers to develop their ideas.
The British Society for the History of Mathematics exists: to promote and encourage research in the history of mathematics and the dissemination of the results of such research; to promote and develop for the public benefit, awareness, knowledge, study and teaching of the history of mathematics; to promote the use of the history of mathematics at all levels in mathematics education in order to enhance the teaching of mathematics for the public benefit.
The Edinburgh Mathematical Society (EMS) was founded in 1883 and has since become firmly established as the principal mathematical society for the university community in Scotland. The aims of the EMS are the promotion and extension of the Mathematical Sciences, pure and applied, particularly in Scotland, and it draws its membership from all the Scottish universities and other educational institutions as well as from mathematicians in industry and commerce both at home and overseas.
HoDoMS is the representative body for Heads of Departments of Mathematical Sciences in UK Universities and aims to discuss and promote tHhe interests of HE Mathematics in the UK and to facilitate dialogue between departments.
The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) exists to support the advancement of mathematical knowledge and its applications and to promote and enhance mathematical culture in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, for the public good. It is the professional and learned society for qualified and practising mathematicians, with a membership of around 5,000 comprising of mathematicians from all sectors, as well as those with an interest in mathematics.
The London Mathematical Society is the major UK learned society for mathematics. The Society’s activities include publishing journals and books, providing grants to support mathematics and organising scientific meetings and lectures.

MEI is an independent charity committed to improving mathematics education and is also an independent UK curriculum development body. Any income generated through our work is used to support the teaching and learning of mathematics.
The National Association for Numeracy and Mathematics in Colleges (NANAMIC) provides professional development for numeracy and mathematics teachers and is a voice for the post-16 further education and training sector. We support classroom practitioners by: providing professional development events in response to the requirements of the sector; running an annual National Conference with many hands-on workshops; representing the views of members when responding to consultations and in face to face meetings. The National Association of Mathematics Advisers (NAMA) is a UK based professional association run by members for its members and has a national dimension and impact. Membership is open to all seeking to improve mathematics education beyond their own organisation and includes advisers, consultants, lecturers, researchers and inspectors. The Association provides advice, support and inspection services to individuals and organisations that seek to make an effective contribution to the learning and teaching of mathematics.

NRICH provides free online ‘low-threshold, high-ceiling’ mathematics education resources for ages 3 to 18. Our rich resources focus on mathematical problem-solving, and cover all stages of early years, primary and secondary school education. We work with teachers to develop and enhance professional knowledge and skills. NRICH is the largest programme within the Millennium Mathematics Project at the University of Cambridge.
The Operational Research (OR) Society is the professional membership body of the OR community. The OR Society provides training, conferences, publications, and information to those working in OR. They support university students with free membership, volunteering opportunities, and careers information. Free outreach work (OR in Education) includes interactive student workshops, careers talks, teaching resources and CPD.

Our education work includes a free e-teacher membership, policy work, and projects to promote statistical literacy and an understanding of data in society.
The Scottish Mathematical Council exists to foster and improve mathematical education at all levels and to encourage advancement and application of mathematics throughout Scotland. It supports both primary and secondary teachers by organizing conferences and producing journals and it also runs problem-solving competitions for pupils. The SMC was founded in 1967 to ensure that there would be a similar body for Scotland to the then newly-established JMC for other parts of Britain, though the nature of the two bodies has always been somewhat different.
The National STEM Learning Network is the largest provider of STEM-specific support for schools, colleges and others working with young people across the UK. The United Kingdom Mathematics Trust is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of young people in mathematics. We engage in activities ranging from publishing to teaching. But our main focus is the organisation of mathematical competitions, from the national Mathematical Challenges, to the selection and training of the UK team for international competitions such as the International Mathematical Olympiad.
